While some thought the show’s move from September to the earlier July date in 2011 would deter buyers, the organization happily reported an 8% increase in attendance figures for the fair, held July 9 – 11 at Paris’ Porte de Versailles.

Pitti Immagine Filati Florence opened with optimism and closed with satisfaction. Buyer numbers were up, foreign buyers +7.4% - especially from Japan and the US. Oswal Woollen Mills invests in alternative energy sources

India’s leading vertical knitwear producer Oswal Woollen Mills is investing Rs 60-crore (US$ 13.5 million) in a wind power venture in the country’s Tamil Nadu and Karnataka regions. Oswal, which owns the knitwear ‘superbrands’ Monte Carlo and Canterbury, has already signed up to a Rs 350 crore (US$ 78 million) solar energy project which goes on stream in December this year.
