Shima Seiki to show at International Apparel Sourcing Show

Shima Seiki of Wakayama, Japan, in collaboration with its U.S. subsidiary Shima Seiki USA will be exhibiting at the International Apparel Sourcing Show, shown alongside Texworld USA in New York next month.

Successful ShanghaiTex for Terrot

Chemnitz, Germany based circular knitting machine builder Terrot, is celebrating after a successful ShanghaiTex exhibition in China last week. Speaking at the textile machinery exhibition in Shanghai, Managing Partner Andreas Von Bismarck told Knitting Industry that the company had taken orders for 83 circular knitting machines by the third day of the show.

Energy solutions are key for Monforts at ShanghaiTex

German finishing machinery builder Monforts says that with energy representing more than 60% of the total costs of a thermal system over a period of 10 years, it provides a constantly increasing expenditure. Consideration also has to be given to the cost factor for discharging the cleaned/recycled exhaust air into the atmosphere, Monforts says.

Outlast polyester wins Techtextil Innovation Prize

Outlast, the pioneer and market leader in temperature regulation phase change materials (PCM) impressed the international jury of Techtextil last month winning the Techtextil Innovation Prize 2011 in the New Materials category for the development of the world’s first heat managing polyester fibre with PCM. To date Outlast’s phase change materials have been available in textile fibres such as viscose and acrylic but not polyester.

Trying to understand Russia

One thing I noticed at this year's Techtextil was a considerable rise in both exhibitors and visitors from Russia, compared to the last show two years ago.

There are no figures available from show organiser Messe Frankfurt to confirm this as yet, but there are many signs that the economy in Russia is currently very favourable for major technical textile markets - if only anyone quite knew how to get in.

Micromafin ultrafine nylon fibre launched

Japan’s Toray Industries has announced it will start selling Micromafin an ultrafine nylon fibre which is said to have a delicate feel and superior softness.

In April this year Toray started shipping the product to major apparel manufacturers and aims to achieve a sales volume of 25 tons in the first year and 100 tons per year from year three. Micromafin, which can be incorporated into yarns as fine as 0.5dtex, is aimed at leg wear and intimate apparel markets.
